Iconic Bond villain Bruce Glover dies age 92

His son Crispin confirmed the news.

James Bond star Bruce Glover has died at the age of 92.

The actor’s son, Crispin Glover, confirmed via Instagram that his father died on March 12, but did not give further details.

Glover famously played assassin Mr Wint in the 1971 James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever, with other film appearances including Walking Tall (1973), Chinatown (1974) and Hard Times (1975).

He also had roles in multiple TV shows, such as My Favorite Martian, The Rat Patrol, The Mod Squad, Gunsmoke, Adam 12, Mission: Impossible, Police Story, Barney Miller and CHiPs.

In a 2019 interview for The Original Van Gogh’s Ear Anthology website, Glover opened up about his iconic role in Diamonds Are Forever and what it was like to work with director Guy Hamilton.

“Guy Hamilton was wide open to every idea I had and a lot of the success of the humour of that film was me. Those were all my ideas,” he said.

“The final moment in the film where Sean Connery does that rude thing pushing the hooha up my yaha and giving that character his final great sexual moment is the biggest laugh in the movie.

“I remember getting a few compliments on that from the Saint, Sir Roger Moore, saying it was the funniest Bond moment of all which I appreciate.”

It was recently confirmed that Amy Pascal and David Heyman are the producers of the next James Bond movie, after it was announced that long-time Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will no longer have creative control over future projects.

“James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema,” they said in a joint statement.

“We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honoured and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”
